IT ALL STARTS WITH POETRY
Source: Albuquerque Journal, N.迷你倉M.Oct. 25--Sierra Casady is excited about getting back to the states to perform. Before she does that, she's wrapping up the current leg of her tour in the United Kingdom."It's been a lot of fun," she says during an interview from Brighton, England. "We actually just played the Olympia in Paris, which was awesome. It's the end of this leg but we're looking forward to coming back to the States to perform. It's been way too long."Casady is one-half of the freak folk duo CocoRosie. Casady and her sister, Bianca, formed the band in 2003 when they were living in Paris."It's been 10 years," she says. "We never thought that we'd still be making music at this point. It's been a journey and we're happy to still be working together and seeing the world."Casady says when CocoRosie began, she would sing, play the guitar, piano and harp, while her sister also sang and manipulated various children's toys, electronic and percussion instruments, as well as other exotic noisemakers.Since then, the sisters have grown together as full collaborators in music."Our music usually begins from our poetry," she says. "Bianmini storagea is the primary writer and she takes the lead on many of the songs. We work from a true collaborative effort and try to push ourselves when it comes to subject matter."CocoRosie also released an album in May called, "Tales of a GrassWidow."Casady says it took the pair nearly two years to complete the album."Being on tour really wears you down," she says. "At the same time, once we get off of tour, we're itching to make new music. There have been ideas that we've worked out on tour during sound check and then we focus on tweaking them off tour."While the duo celebrates their decade in music, Casady says she couldn't be happier to share the milestone with her sister."It's been fantastic to be able to see the world with my sister," she says. "I couldn't imagine any other way to make music."CocoRosieWith Reignbeau, Nicolatron, Jenny WrenWHEN: 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31WHERE: Sunshine Theater, 120 W.
