What follows is a list of the victims and details of their deaths.Jan. 1Lynette Garza, 23Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a possible car accident and found Garza's remains on the banks of the Stanislaus River in the 25800 block of East River Road in Escalon. The Modesto woman's body, which showed signs of "severe trauma," was found about 60 feet from an abandoned vehicle.Jan. 26Jerry Lee Khaoone, 25A passing motorist discovered Khaoone's body along a frontage road on the west side of Highway 99, just north of the Peltier Road exit. Khaoone sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.Feb. 2Alex Marshall, 17; Macaila Marshall, 14Alex, Macaila and their father, 54-year-old Phillip Marshall, were found dead in their Murphys home. Authorities determined that Phillip Marshall shot his sleeping children in the head before killing himself, debunking conspiracy theories that U.S. government operatives killed him because he wrote a book alleging that the U.S. and Saudi governments orchestrated the 9/11 terrorist attacks.Feb. 3Bryant Howell, 34Howell was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds across the street from the Blues Lounge in the 1500 block of South Lincoln Street in Stockton. A witness helped police develop a sketch of the possible shooter, who was described as a black man in his early 20s, 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 7 inches tall and 170 to 175 pounds with a gray hooded sweatshirt and "twisty" braids in his hair.Feb. 18Alexander Centeno, 21Centeno was shot to death inside his home in the 5400 block of Holiday Drive. Stockton Police arrested his friend, 19-year-old Andrew Torres, saying he killed Centeno when he negligently discharged his gun.Feb. 26Racheal Russell, 76Russell's remains were found in a wheelbarrow behind her home in the 400 block of South Golden Gate Avenue. Stockton police arrested her grandson, 39-year-old registered sex offender Jerome DeAvila, alleging that he raped, murdered and robbed his grandmother after being released from jail under realignment.March 15Gloria Castro, 40Castro was shot to death moments after someone called authorities to report a disturbance at her home in the 10200 block of South Janet Road in French Camp. Later that evening, investigators arrested Castro's longtime boyfriend, 37-year-old Juan Navarette Valdez, on suspicion of homicide.March 15Danilo Sandoval, 20Sandoval was shot to death when gunfire erupted outside a Chevron gas station on West Walnut Grove Road near Interstate 5. Authorities later arrested Anthony Arriaga, 22, on suspicion of homicide with gang enhancements.March 17Juan Sarraraz Jr., 22; Juanita Maldonado, 35Sarraraz and Maldonado were shot to death and three others were wounded in a drive-by shooting during a birthday party in the 1800 block of East Sonora Street near Stribley Park. Stockton police questioned and released a 20-year-old man days after the killings, saying the man would not be arrested in connection with the shooting.March 17Kelly Guerrero, 34Guerrero was shot to death in the 700 block of East Clay Street. Her boyfriend, 36-year-old Anthony Orosco, called Stockton police to tell them he killed her. Orosco was arrested on suspicion of murder.April 6Rachana Pheng, 25Pheng was gunned down in what may have been a gang-related shooting at a central Stockton apartment complex in the 4300 block of Manchester Avenue.April 8Darryl Washington, 53Washington was shot and killed in the 9400 block of Fox Creek Drive, a residential Stockton street lined with duplexes. Neighbors reported hearing numerous gunshots in rapid succession, saying the shots sounded like firecrackers.April 11Claudia Gallardo, 38Gallardo was fatally mauled by a dog in the front yard of a home in 400 block of Lillian Avenue in Stockton. The dog's owner, 60-year-old Brian Hrenko, was arrested on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter in November.April 19Samath Som, 29Som was killed and two others were wounded when automatic gunfire erupted in the 1900 block of Dijon Street. Residents said their street in the north Stockton neighborhood was relatively peaceful until new tenants moved into the duplex where the shooting occurred.April 27Leila Fowler, 9Fowler was stabbed to death inside her home on Rippon Road in Valley Springs. Her 12-year-old brother was arrested on suspicion of homicide after admitting he fabricated a story about an intruder who fled the scene on foot. Local, state and federal authorities had spent more than 2,000 hours investigating the case and combing the countryside for a killer before settling on her brother as a suspect.May 16Albert Wright, 30Police found Wright suffering from several gunshot wounds in the parking lot of a Motel 6 in the 6700 block of Plymouth Road. It was unclear what Wright, a Fairfield resident who was on parole for forgery, was doing in Stockton.May 17Arlie Druen, 33Druen was fatally shot inside his home in the 700 block of South Central Avenue in Lodi. Police arrested his roommate, 33-year-old Richard Welker, who claimed the shooting occurred as a result of an accidental discharge.June 9Primitivo Martinez, 47Martinez was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound after Stockton police received reports of a man down near South Sutter and East First streets, about a block south of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators had no witnesses and no motive for the shooting.June 21Joshua Craig, 27Craig had been shot in the upper body when he was found in his Dodge van in a parking lot at East Side Park near East Marsh Street and Del Mar Avenue in Stockton. Detectives have arrested Cody Marchand, 20, David Ray White, 25, Katrina Danielle Wells, 21, and Jerimia Adam Berry, 27, in connection with the shooting.June 22Michael Lawrence, 51Lawrence was shot to death in front of his family outside his home in the 800 block of Williamson Road in Manteca. Relatives said Lawrence was killed by a group of motorcycle riders following an altercation at a nearby business. The bikers allegedly followed Lawrence to his home, spun doughnuts in the street and attacked the man when he confronted them as his wife and 8-year-old daughter looked on. Fernando Delgado, 21, Michael Roessler, 23, Justin Wilson, 25, and Christopher Oliver, 36, were arrested in connection with the killing.June 25Devandre Norwood, 21He was gunned down in the 600 block of North American Street. Stockton police quickly identified Louis McCornell, 22, also known as "Hamburger," as the shooting suspect. McCornell eluded authorities for nearly five months before being arrested on suspicion of homicide in December.July 5John Martin Newton, 22Newton was shot to death in a home-invasion robbery inside an apartment in the 1400 block of Marco Polo Drive. Neighbors reported hearing five gunshots the night before his body was discovered. The following week, Stockton police arrested Juan Barnes, 19, on suspicion of homicide in connection with Newton's death after Barnes and three others were involved in a gunfight with officers at August Knodt Elementary School.July 7Mahelani Josemarie Posada, 19Posada was killed in a shooting on the southwest corner of Connecticut and Flint avenues. He was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries after undergoing emergency surgery.Aug. 2Jane Doe, 2Doctors determined that the little girl died of blunt-force trauma after her mother's boyfriend, 24-year-old Miguel Flores, took her to a hospital. Flores was charged with child abuse resulting in the death of a child under 8 years old, felony child abuse and endangerment.Aug. 7Thomas Kirby Birt, 37Birt was found unresponsive in the 4800 block of East Harvest Road in Acampo after sustaining a gunshot wound to the upper body. Witnesses told deputies Birt argued and fought with another man, Joshua Adam Franklin, in front of a residence, before Franklin shot Birt and fled in a silver pickup. Franklin was later arrested on suspicion of homicide at a hospital in Sacramento, where he sought treatment for minor injuries suffered in the struggle.Aug. 16Jaime Ramirez, 28Ramirez was shot to death outside his home in the 1100 block of East Sonora Street. Less than two weeks later, Stockton police detectives arrested a 13-year-old boy and two 14-year-old boys in connection with the slaying. Authorities said Ramirez was shot when he interrupted a burglary at his home.Aug. 17Bradley Porter, 53Porter was reported missing Aug. 14 and located three days later after authorities learned he had gone to a marijuana grow operation in the 11800 block of Lower Jones Road west of Stockton. Porter, who was found lying on his back in a canal with a gunshot wound, was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.Aug. 30Kevric Beverly Jr., 16Beverly was gunned down at an apartment complex in the 600 block of Salem Way in Stockton during a dispute with Edgar Frayre, 19, who was confronted by a group of people about having sex with a minor. Authorities said Frayre shot Beverly, escaped on foot and fled to San Jose, where he was arrested on suspicion of homicide four days later.Sept. 1Manuel Zavala Jr., 29Zavala was shot in the head near West Park and North Commerce streets in Stockton. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Residents reported hearing a gunshot, but authorities had no description of the shooter.Sept. 2Angel Lopez-Mendoza, 24Authorities said Lopez-Mendoza was shot by an accomplice during the commission of a home-invasion robbery in the 1600 block of Julian Street. Stockton police arrested his brother, 40-year-old Stephen Rodriguez, Herbis Sauceda, 29, and Matthew Ornelas, 27, on suspicion of homicide in connection with Lopez-Mendoza's death.Sept. 17Antoine Martis Kelly, 26Kelly was one of two men who died as a result of a shooting that wounded five people outside Danny's Market in the 700 block of North Airport Way in Stockton. Kelly was pronounced dead at the scene.Sept. 19Dashawn Lamont Johns, 19Johns and another man were found suffering from gunshot wounds after their vehicle came to a stop in the front yard of a home in the 100 block of Reiger Drive in Lathrop. Johns, a passenger in the car, was flown to a hospital in Modesto, where he died from his injuries. The driver told authorities they were being chased by someone in a black van when the shooting occurred.Sept. 20Charles Edwards Jr., 22Edwards, a resident of Oakland, died at a hospital three days after being wounded in the Sept. 17 shooting that also killed Kelly in the 700 block of North Airport Way.Sept. 27Curniee Howell III, 37Howell was one of two men struck by gunfire in the 2400 block of Ophir Street, just west of Airport Way in southeast Stockton. The other victim was a 30-year-old man who sustained non-life-threatening injuries.Sept. 30DeAndre Marquis Sargent, 20Sargent was shot in the 100 block of Gateway Court about a block north of Weberstown Park. A month later, Alfredo Villalobos, 29, was arrested on suspicion of murder in an east Stockton trailer park after he led authorities in vehicle and foot pursuits.Oct. 11Kristopher Hoyt, 36Hoyt was shot, possibly while confronting a trespasser on a property in the 1100 block of Peltier Road in Acampo. The killer was described as a man wearing a baseball cap, and a black truck was seen in the area at the time of the shooting.Oct. 16Randolph Alan Ford, 52Ford was shot five times during a domestic dispute with his wife at their home on Amos Lane in San Andreas. Charity Ford, 56, who also is accused of shooting her 20-year-old granddaughter, was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.Oct. 25Manuel Rangel, 36Rangel was found shot to death at a home in the 5900 block of Fern Street in Stockton. A neighbor reported screaming at the house one month earlier and saw a broken front window the next day.Oct. 27Daniel Cabatit Jr., 50Cabatit was killed in a drive-by shooting in the 600 block of Astor Drive in Stockton. Two younger men were also injured in the shooting.Oct. 28Karen Sterzl, 36Sterzl was reported missing in 1990 and was not located until May when an anonymous tip helped authorities unearth her buried remains in the backyard of a home in the 400 block of Park Avenue in Manteca. Police believe she was killed by her boyfriend, Billie Faulkner, who lived in the Manteca home for many years before his death in 2012.Oct. 31Francisco Nunes Maldonado, 38Maldonado was shot to death inside his home in the 1000 block of South American Street in Stockton. There were obvious signs of foul play inside the home, and Maldonado's SUV was stolen.Nov. 2Malik Abdul Johnson, 18Johnson was stabbed to death in the 4400 block of Calandria Street in Stockton. His mother said he suffered from a mental health condition known as reactive attachment disorder, which made it difficult for him to gauge people's facial expressions, body language and intentions, which left him vulnerable to abuse.Nov. 8Olivia Ruiz, 56; Fidel Cordova, 50; Emmanuel Ruiz, 27Three died and two others were wounded in a late-night shooting inside a home in the 3100 block of South Laurel Lane in southeast Stockton. A 6-year-old boy was also inside the home when the shooting occurred, but he escaped and fled to a neighbor's residence.Nov. 30Marshawn Black, 22Stockton police believe a scorned lover ordered a hit on Black, who was shot to death in the 6400 block of West Lane outside an apartment he shared with his girlfriend and their 1-year-old son. Sarim Chabb and her brother Sarth Chab were arrested and charged with murder.Dec. 2Ivan Acevedo, 22Acevedo was shot in a McKinley Park parking lot near South El Dorado and East Eighth streets in south Stockton. The driver's door of a car parked nearby was open, but it was not clear who the vehicle belonged to.Dec. 16Phi Canh Vong, 38Vong, an Elk Grove resident, was gunned down in front of a north Stockton home in the 9200 block of Lariat Lane. Police had no motive or description of the killer.Dec. 21Jessie Rivera, 22Rivera was found suffering from at least one gunshot wound at Weber Square near North Van Buren and West Park streets.
