Source: Odessa American, TexasSept.存倉 20----BIG SPRING STEERS at ANDREWS MUSTANGSTime, Date, Place: 7:30 tonight, Mustang Bowl, Andrews.Records: Big Spring 2-1; Andrews 2-1.Last Week: Big Spring 48, San Angelo Lake View 0; Andrews 55, Brownfield 28.Radio: KBYG-AM 1400 (Big Spring); KACT-FM 105.5 (Andrews).Internet: kbygradio.com (Big Spring); kactradio.com (Andrews).Last Season: Big Spring 51, Andrews 14.Notes: In last year's meeting between the two rivals, Andrews quarterback Shane Dolgener suffered a season-ending injury early in the contest and Big Spring rolled to the victory. ... Dolgener is back and leads the Permian Basin with 1,062 total yards (693 passing, 369 rushing) and has accounted for 14 touchdowns (seven rushing, seven passing). Last week Dolgener threw for 206 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 150 with two more scores to lead Andrews to a road win against Brownfield. ... "We're going to have to try to keep the ball away from them as much as possible," Big Spring head coach Phillip Ritchey said. "We've got to limit the damage that Dolgener does, the big plays especially." ... Big Spring has scored 48 points or more in two of three games this season and its defense has two shutouts. ... Junior QB Tobyn Tannehill, the brother of Miami Dolphins' QB Ryan Tannehill, passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more in last week's homecoming win over Lake View. Big Spring's Devin Roberson, Shaiem Menefield and Hunter Hill each had interceptions and the Steers forced three fumbles, recovering one, and held the Chiefs under 200 yards of offense. "They're so well-balanced offensively and can hurt you in a lot of ways," Andrews head coach Ralph Mason said of Big Spring. "Defensively, they really play with a great amount of intensity do a good job on that side of the ball too."--SEMINOLE INDIANS at MIDLAND CHRISTIAN MUSTANGSTime, Date, Place: 7:30 tonight, Mustang Field, Midland.Records: Seminole 2-1; Midland Christian 3-0.Last Week: Seminole 39, Fort Stockton 7; Midland Christian 51, Borger 7.Radio: KIKZ-AM 1250 (Seminole).Internet: kikzksem.com (Seminole); ustream.tv/channel/midland-christian (Midland).Last Season: Midland Christian 63, Seminole 14.Notes: Head coach Chris Burtch knows exactly what his Seminole Indians will be up against tonight, taking on back-to-back TAPPS state champion Midland Christian. The Mustangs have scored an average of 45 points per game behind standout quarterback Mason McClendon, with an arsenal of playmakers at his disposal. "That's a whole different animal," Burtch said. "Probably the most talented overall football team I've seen in a very long time. They execute very well, have people in postion to make plays and the McClendon kid is very accurate and does a good job running the offense. They have a lot of weapons." ... For the Indians, Burtch said the key is going to be keeping his offense on the field extending drives and moving the chains. Seminole RB Addison Parum is coming off a 201-yard, two-touchdown performance in last week's 39-7 win over Fort Stockton. WR Sabraun Adams added two more rushing touchdowns and caught another. ... The Indians' defense has been a strength, holding two of their first three opponents to a single score, and forced five turnovers against Fort Stockton. Adams accounted for two of the picks and DB Justin Hernandez had the other. ... "If we think we're a playoff-caliber team and have a chance to make a deep run, this is the type of team that you would expect to see deep in the playoffs at the 3A level," Burtch said. "It's a great measuring stick to see where we need to improve and how we get it done."--FORT STOCKTON PANTHERS AT MONAHANS LOBOESTime, Date, Place: 7:30 tonight, Estes Memorial Stadium, Monahans.Records: Fort Stockton 0-3; Monahans 1-1.Last Week: Seminole 39, Fort Stockton 7; Monahans 21, Canyon Randall 7.Radio: KFST AM-860 and FM-94.3 (Fort Stockton); KPTX-FM 98.3 (Pecos).Internet: kfstradio.com (Fort Stockton); 98xfm.com (Pecos).Last Season: Monahans 47, Fort Stockton 0.Notes: Monahans has beaten Fort Stockton each of the past five years and eight of the last 10 meetings. But Monahans head coach Mickey Owens said he isn't counting on recent history. "We know it's the Fort Stockton-Monahans game," Owens said. "We're going to get (Fort Stockton's) best shot and we know that. Whenever we play, and we've played them forever, it's always a good tough game. It'll be a fight with them." ...The foes are entering the contest from different directions. The Loboes are coming off a road upset of Class 4A Canyon Randall. RB Jacob Lair's 101 yards and two touchdowns led a solid Monahans rushing attack that cranked out 237 yards on the ground against the Raiders. QB Haasan Walker and WR Isaac Renteria connected on the other score. The first two Loboes touchdowns were set up by turnovers from DE Barry Clayton (1 interception, 1 fumble recovery). ... Fort Stockton suffered a road loss to Seminole one week after a 35-28 loss to 4A San Angelo Lake View. The Panthers turned the ball over five times in the latest setback. "I told the kids you can't take two steps forward and three back and I thought we took three back last week," Fort Stockton head coach Derrick Taylor said. "One thing we have worked on this week is playing all four quarters and up the tempo. Penalties have killed us and a lot have been about discipline and we addressed those too."--SAN ANGELO LAKE VIEW CHIEFS AT GREENWOOD RANGERSTime, Date, Place: 7:30 tonight, J.M. King Memorial Stadium, Greenwood.Records: Lake View 1-2; Greenwood 1-2.Last Week: Big Spring 48, Lake View 0; Shallowater 63, Greenwood 27.Internet: audiosportsonline.net (Greenwood).Last Season: Greenwood 42, Lake View 7.Notes: A loss to Brownfield two weeks ago came as a bit of a surprise for Greenwood. Last week's lopsided defeat to Shallowater wasn't ideal either. But head coach Shad Hanna saw some things in the second half against the Mustangs that he pinpointed as positives, specifically on the offensive line, which he hopes will carry over to this week. ... Braydin Moreland, who is averaging almost six yards per carry, ran for 169 yards and three touchdowns on 20 touches behind said line against Shallowater. "We took a lot of time watching the mistakes that are being made that are keeping us us from being where we want to be," Hanna said. "It takes a little bit of time, but our backs are against the wall I expect our best football team show up Friday." ... Bryce Thompson owns three of the Rangers' 6.5 sacks. Six of Brandon Brown's tackles have been for loss. ... Lake View's two losses sandwich a 35-28 Week 1 victory over Fort Stockton. ... The Chiefs had Andrews in their sights in Week Zero, but lost a tight one 32-30. ... Eli Peterson has rushed for 166, 253 and 58 yards each of the last three weeks.--ELDORADO EAGLES AT KERMIT YELLOW JACKETSTime, Date, Place: 7:30 tonight, Walton Field, Kermit.Records: Eldorado 1-2; Kermit 1-2.Last Week: Eldorado 22, Center Point 13; Kermit 30, Reagan County 14.Internet: 98xfm.com (Pecos).Last Season: Kermit 12, Eldorado 7.Notes: The Yellow Jackets picked up their first win last week under first-year head coach Arick Heredia. "It felt great. We finally put a full game together. Played well on special teams, on defense and everything just came together," Heredia said. ... And the objective now is to string a few more together. The Yellow Jackets get that chance against Eldorado in their first home game and will go forth riding the hot hand of quarterback Jared Easley. The senior, who did not play last season, completed passes at a 19-for-30 clip for 262 yards -- the most in a single game across the Permian Basin so far this season -- and four TDs. Easley was moved into the starting position when preseason projected QB Jantzen Michel switched to wide receiver while recovering from an elbow injury on his throwing arm. It all has worked out peachy. "The thing about Jantzen, he can step on the field anywhere and make us better," Heredia said on the junior Michel, who has five touchdown catches. "They're getting real comfortable in the system. They have a lot of confidence in what were doing and the bottom line we're preaching on Friday night just to go out and have fun, leave it all on the field and see what happens."--ALPINE FIGHTIN' BUCKS AT ANTHONY WILDCATSTime, Date, Place: 7 tonight, Wildcat Stadium, Anthony.Records: Alpine 1-2; Anthony 1-2.Last Week: Alpine 36, Fabens 14; Tornillo 35, Anthony 6.Radio: KVLF AM-1240 (Alpine).Internet: bigbendradio.com (Alpine).Last Season: Alpine 69, Anthony 0.Notes: Alpine needed its win last week. And the Fightin' Bucks needed everybody on board to get it -- sore or not. "We have some guys that are beat up right now, but they just want to play. They show up Friday," head coach Stacey Martin said. ... One such is senior quarterback Evan Moore, who showed glimpses of his 2012 self in accounting for four touchdowns. Yet Fabens outgained the Bucks 346-265, which leads Martin to believe there is much more work to do. "We've got to come to play, no matter who we have," Martin said. "We have to show up and play. That's under our control. That's what we've been focusing on." ... Martin said the Bucks are still ironing out a starting 11 on defense, plugging some new faces in with the old and so forth. Veteran Victor Molinar has a team-high 43 tackles, Isaac Gallego, a callup, is next with 29 and Abel Silvas, another veteran, is third on the team with 25. The services of all three, and more, will be of importance tonight against an Anthony squad Martin said will ride the production of its running back. ... A chemistry also is gaining momentum between Moore and a fresh batch of receivers. "We knew we'd have some growing pains, but they are all gaining confidence which is real big," Martin said.--PECOS EAGLES at CRANE GOLDEN CRANESTime, Date, Place: 8 tonight, El Ave Stadium, Crane.Records: Pecos 2-1; Crane 3-0.Last Week: Denver City 37, Pecos 14; Crane 48, Ozona 0.Radio: KIUN AM-1400 (Pecos).Internet: 98xfm.com. (Pecos); myelave.com (Crane).Last Season: Pecos 27, Crane 23.Notes: It's homecoming at Crane, which always seems to add a little something to the on-field activities. ... Crane's defense has allowed 20 points this season, all against Colorado City. The Golden Cranes also have averaged 40 points per outing. ... Odds are the ground attack will be featured by both teams. Pecos has four players -- JC Hernandez (233), quarterback Mario Gallardo (231), Cesar Ortega (179) and Alex Garcia (166) -- with at least 150 rushing yards. Meanwhile, Crane's Gunner Tatum, who also leads the team in tackles, in the Basin's top rusher through three weeks with his 432 yards on 34 touches. ... "They spread the wealth. They are a veteran ball club, playing well together," Crane head coach Naldo Esparza said. ... Pecos head coach Chris Henson was just as complimentary of the Golden Cranes. "They have some great kids. They are going to be fired up," Henson said. ... Crane quarterback Charles Tapia is the key to Crane's other facet Esparza would like to see continue to evolve. "Anytime you run the football that's going to help play-action pass," Esparza said. We have been selling them on the idea of get better running so that the pass with follow. We try to be balanced." ... The Eagles were sent to their first loss of the season last week and Henson said his team just never got its engine running. "We are a better football team than what showed up," Henson said. "We were stuck in the mud and we weren't really going anywhere. The kids were going to the right spots but we were just getting beat. We need 迷你倉 little more intensity out of our kids." ... Pecos' AJ Florez is his team's leader with 33 tackles. ... Crane's Mykal Young has three interceptions.--REAGAN COUNTY OWLS AT IRAAN BRAVESTime, Date, Place: 7:30 tonight, Brave Stadium, Iraan.Records: Reagan County 2-1, Iraan 3-0.Last Week: Kermit 30, Reagan County 14; Iraan 56, Rocksprings 21.Last Season: Reagan County 29, Iraan 0.Notes: After back-to-back come-from-behind victories, Iraan played with an early lead against Rocksprings and held it the rest of the way. Head coach Mark Kirchhoff will take the wins either way and said the experiences gained in each scenario are priceless. "The two come-from-behind wins were big for us," Kirchhoff said. "The kids get that mindset that they are never out of the games. We have progressed every week and we've gotten to see a good mix of ball clubs." ... Braves receiver Aaron Conn, running back Robert Reyes and all-purpose player Devan Griffin each scored two touchdowns last week. Iraan also turned its first defensive score, with Tanner Myers' pick-6. ... Jarret Doege and Griffin again split responsibilities at quarterback -- Griffin maintaining the option attack and Doege, who finished 9-of-15 for 231 yards, 4 TDs and one INT, finding ways through the air. "I know for us defensively we are going to have to be ready to defend the pass," Reagan County head coach Ken Campbell said. "But at the same time that Reyes kid is a load and that Griffin kid running the option, we are going to have to try and contain him." ... The Owls are coming off of their first loss of the season, but Campbell said the response at practice this week has been as expected. "Our kids have taken it as a challenge to get back to work and get better," he said. ... Jamie Carrasco has rushed for more than 120 yards in two of the three games for the Owls. Freddy Rocha has complemented that, averaging 76 yards a game.--STANTON BUFFALOES AT McCAMEY BADGERSTime, Date, Place: 7:30 tonight, Badger Stadium, McCamey.Records: Stanton 2-1, McCamey 1-2.Last Week: Stanton 35, Forsan 6; Christoval 21, McCamey 6.Last Season: McCamey 42, Stanton 21.Notes: Game 4 of the season and McCamey gets to play its first home game. Head coach John Fellows couldn't be happier. "I am (excited) and I know the kids are," Fellows said. "We have back to back home games, too." ... Quarterback Jordan Zarate played only the fourth quarter of last week's loss to Christoval as he was nursing a hip injury. Fellows said Zarate will be "good to go" from the get-go tonight. ... Penalties also hampered the Badgers last week. McCamey was flagged 18 times for a whopping 188 yards, and many stalled promising offensive drives. "When anything got going something would happen," Fellows said. "I don't like making excuses. We just didn't play well." ... Eric Holguin is second in the Permian Basin with his 406 rushing yards. ... Senior defensive end Josh Molina leads the squad with five sacks and 24 tackles. ... Stanton, a 2A school in the same district as Alpine and Crane, enters on a two-game win streak with victories against Morton and Forsan. ... Quarterback K.J. Glaspie has completed 55 percent of his passes. Glasipie, a junior, also has thrown five touchdowns over the past two outings after tossing just one and two interceptions in an opening-week loss to Denver City. ... "They are challenging teams," said Heryford, who coached San Angelo Central for three seasons (2006-08). ... The Eagles are 1-1 so far against 5-1A Division II, losing their opener at Iraan and defeating Van Horn last week. Heryford said he has seen favorable progress out of his team during the first three weeks of the season. "We've grown up a bunch," Heryford said. "I knew after that first game we were going to be OK because our kids will play their guts out. We just need to string together four quarters, and we did that last week." ... Seagraves rushed for 453 yards last week, led by sophomore Cory Kyle's 224 yards on 20 carries. It was his third straight 200-plus yard effort, Heryford said. ... Wink head coach Andy Hrncir is well aware of Kyle's abilities and said his defense must continue to fly to the ball. "Got to stop their running back first. He is the key to their offense," Hrncir said. "They are a good football team. They are getting better each week." ... In essence, the Wildcats have as well, winning two straight after a Week Zero loss. ...The Wildcats had to fight against themselves a bit last week, committing 11 penalties for 130 yards, an issue Hrncir said was addressed this week. "A lot of it comes back to technique," Hrncir said. ... Senior Riley Richardson rushed and passed for more than 100 yards for the first time this season. Five different receivers caught passes. ..."For as long as I can remember, Wink kids show up and play. They have a tradition," said Heryford, who graduated from Greenwood High School. "If you don't show up ready to play they will blow you out."--MEADOW BRONCOS AT RANKIN RED DEVILSTime, Date, Place: 7:30 tonight, Red Devil Stadium, Rankin.Records: Meadow 2-1; Rankin 3-0.Last Week: Meadow 58, Wellman-Union 6; Rankin 72, Borden County 22.Last Season: Rankin 50, Meadow 36.Notes: Rankin is averaging 65 points per game offensively while yielding just 22 points per game on defense. ... RBs Aaron Castillo and Junior Rodriguez combined for seven touchdowns in the Red Devils' win over Borden County last week. Rodriguez went for 219 yards on 12 carries and scored three times and Castillo rushed for 170 yards with four TDs. All together the Rankin offense posted 515 total yards. The scary thing is first-year Rankin head coach Kevin Ray feels the Red Devils can only improve. "We're getting a little more healthy," Ray said. "We got two of three seniors back on the field last week and that helped a lot. The kids are playing better and as they understand the offense more and more I think they'll get even better." ... Maintaining the level of intensity it has shown over the first three weeks of the season is a priority for Rankin. "We have to be ready to play no matter who we're playing," Ray said. "We want to play at our level and not the level of the other team." ... After dropping its season opener to 2012 state finalist Follett, Meadow has won consecutive games over Paducah and Wellman-Union. ... Meadow RB Tyler Harrison is averaging 10.63 yards per carry and has rushed for 170 yards this season, scoring six touchdowns. RB Corbin Garza is averaging 15.11 yards per carry and has 136 yards. Most of those numbers were generated in last week's 58-6 win over Wellman-Union. ... The Broncos are in their first season under head coach Bobby Avery, who led Borden County to the 1997 state six-man title.--SANDERSON EAGLES AT FORT DAVIS INDIANSTime, Date, Place: 7:30 tonight, Bart Coan Field, Fort Davis.Records: Sanderson 2-0; Fort Davis 0-3.Last Week: Sanderson, idle; Grandfalls-Royalty 62, Fort Davis 6.Radio: KALP-FM 92.7 (Alpine).Internet: bigbendradio.com (Alpine).Last Season: Sanderson 51, Fort Davis 30.Notes: Sanderson is coming off its bye week, after scoring a combined 138 points in its first two games, defeating Odessa Latter Rain (54-7) and Marfa (84-37) by 47 points each. Despite the hot start, second-year Eagles head coach Jerry Garza said the bye couldn't have come at a better time. "We got pretty beat up against Marfa," Garza said. "They were pretty physical and bruised us up. It was a good thing to have that bye." ... While the Sanderson offense appears to be firing on all cylinders, Garza spent the off week working on the team's execution. "Putting up that number of points doesn't tell the whole story about our offense," Garza said. "We're still missing blocks and assignments. There's still room for improvement, but our defense is playing lights out right now." ... The Eagles defense, which has allowed just 44 points on the season, is led by NG Jalen Chriesman, MLB Luis Garza and DE Mikey Shoemaker. ... Fort Davis has allowed 136 points (46.3 per game) in its three losses and has scored a total of 30, while dealing with a rash of injuries early in the season. ... The Indians are coached by Wayne Schroeder, the former head coach of NCAA Division III Sul Ross State University. Efforts to gather statistics and further information from Fort Davis were unsuccessful for the second consecutive week.--SIERRA BLANCA VAQUEROS AT MARFA SHORTHORNSTime, Date, Place: 7:30 tonight, Martin Field, Marfa.Records: Sierra Blanca 1-1; Marfa 0-3.Last Week: Sierra Blanca, idle; Balmorhea 60, Marfa 32.Last Season: Marfa 48, Sierra Blanca 44.Notes: Marfa has suffered three straight losses to start the season but showed promise last week against Balmorhea. The Shorthorns trailed just 20-19 at halftime before being outscored 40-13 in the second half. "Two weeks in a row we've done that," Marfa head coach Jeff Jones said. "We just need to learn how to finish the second half and we'll be all right." ... Jones said the Shorthorns have been successful by platooning players and going no-huddle. "When we're moving the ball it's really wearing the other team out," Jones said. "But when we're not moving the ball, it gives them time to recuperate." ... In each of the past two games, the Shorthorns' efforts have been thwarted by turnovers, penalties and injuries. Those injuries could be a factor this week, as RB/LB Elijah Prieto, QB/DE Tim Flores, C/NG Jonathan Llanez and TE/DB Dakota Wilbourn are all game-time decisions. ... The Vaqueros were idle last week and have split their first two games this season, beating Fort Davis 22-18 in the opener then losing 52-6 to El Paso Home School on Sept. 7. ... Jones is hoping the Shorthorns will put together four full quarters this week and break into the win column for the first time this season. ... "We're going to try to do the same thing we've done the last two weeks," Jones said. "But this time try to finish the game."--EL PASO FAITH CHRISTIAN LIONS AT BALMORHEA BEARSTime, Date, Place: 7:30 tonight, Bear Stadium, Balmorhea.Records: Faith Christian 0-2; Balmorhea 2-1.Last Week: Faith Christian, idle; Balmorhea 60, Marfa 32.Last Season: Balmorhea 63, Faith Christian 16.Notes: Balmorhea had no problem shaking off a 66-32 season-opening loss to Division I Rankin at McCamey's West Texas Six-man Shootout.
